Chief Letter

Hello All!

Megan and I are honored to be the two co-chiefs selected for the 2021-2022 academic year! We share a vision of maintaining and promoting our residency’s wonderful culture and comradery. We feel that the people here are what make this program fantastic, and we are excited to find another group of stellar interns this recruitment season!

Our residency program combines the best aspects of both a robust academic tertiary care center and a community-focused clinical environment. We complete our inpatient experiences in the largest academic hospital of Upstate South Carolina where we treat high acuity patients and learn alongside fellow physicians of the other residency programs in our system. We highly value the collaboration we have with residents and faculty of other specialties and feel that this leads to strong training in all aspects of hospital medicine.

While we are a strong academic institution, our program is very much rooted in the Greenville community. In our community-based continuity clinic, we provide full spectrum care for a diverse and underserved population with a wide variety of pathology and health conditions. We also provide specialty clinics in multidisciplinary diabetes care, women’s healthcare, LGBTQ+ care, and sports medicine.

To better serve our community and improve access to care, we have frequent opportunities to provide care at the local free clinic, mobile health clinic, and our county detention center.

As chiefs, Megan and I strive to provide open communication, innovative problem solving, and compassionate listening. By partnering with our leadership who provide both excellent guidance and support, we have had the opportunity to be involved in the development of wellness activities and curriculum, clinic improvement, recruitment, and scheduling in this dynamic time during the COVID 19 pandemic.

Thank you so much for your interest in our program! We love our #FamMedFam, and we hope you will too!
