Chief Residents’ Letter

On behalf of our faculty and residents, we want to thank you for your interest in our program! Our residency program combines the best aspects of both a robust academic tertiary care center and a community-focused clinical environment. We complete our rotational experiences in the largest academic hospital of Upstate South Carolina where we treat high acuity patients and learn alongside fellow physicians of the other residency programs. By doing this, we get a truly collaborative education in which our residents receive strong training in all aspects of hospital medicine from newborn nursery to ICU care.

While we are a strong academic institution, our program is very much rooted in the Greenville community.  In our community-based continuity clinic, we provide state-of-the-art care for a diverse and underserved population with a wide variety of pathology and health conditions. We have weekly opportunities to provide care at the local free clinic, mobile health clinic, as well as our county detention center, which ensures that we are able to provide care to patients that may not otherwise have access.

However, the greatest strength of our residency program is found in our tightly knit group of residents and faculty. There is a true “family” atmosphere among our residents and faculty which allows residents to feel that they are truly supported in their journey to becoming well-prepared family physicians able to meet any challenge.

We love our program, and we think you will too! Again, thank you for your interest in our residency program. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
