About the Program

Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics (Med-Peds) is an exciting and rewarding specialty, in which physicians may pursue a wide range of interesting career choices caring for patients across the age span.

The Prisma Health/University of South Carolina School of Medicine-Greenville Internal Medicine-Pediatrics (Med-Peds) residency is committed to providing our residents with the most balanced and comprehensive medical training available in a collegial and supportive learning environment.

Prisma Health is the largest not-for-profit health organization in South Carolina. In the Upstate of South Carolina, Prisma Health serves the needs of 70% of patients. In our residency program, the vast majority of the adult and pediatric training experiences occur under one roof at Greenville Memorial Hospital and the Children’s Hospital. Additionally, our residents are free to enroll in electives with teaching faculty throughout the health system, including with our Med-Peds hospitalist program in nearby Greer, SC.

In 2012, The University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville opened its doors on our campus. The UofSC School of Medicine Greenville has further enhanced the educational mission of our health system and has provided increasing opportunities for teaching and mentorship for our faculty and residents.

In Greenville, we are very fortunate to have a cohesive, supportive, and hard-working group of residents devoted to patient care and each other. Our med-peds residents fit seamlessly within two excellent categorical programs while still retaining their own unique identity.
