Important 2020-21 Interview Update

In light of the ongoing pandemic and in accordance with recommendations by South Carolina AHEC, Coalition for Physician Accountability (including the AAMC, ACGME, and AOA and supported by the AAFP and ABFM),and along with all Prisma Health residency programs, the Prisma Health Family Medicine Residency Greenville will be conducting virtual interviews for the 2020-21 season. We believe this change will protect the health of our interviewees, faculty, residents, and patients and limit further spread of the coronavirus. We are disappointed to not be able to meet our applicants in person and demonstrate the strengths of our program, organization, and location first-hand. However, we are confident that our creative process to showcase our residency and its culture virtually will provide you with great insight into the program. Our virtual interview will include delivery of in-depth information about the program, individual interviews with program leadership and faculty, and social time with residents. We look forward to receiving your application and getting to know you through the interview process!

To be eligible for selection, applicants must apply via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), and must be enrolled in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Applications will be reviewed from October to December, however we encourage you to apply early to ensure that interview spots are still available. The selection process aims to holistically evaluate candidates’ applications including academic achievements, letters of recommendation, and evidence of professional qualifications such as communication, scholarly work, advocacy, and other achievements.

Selected applicants will be invited to interview with the Resident Selection Committee. During the 2020-2021 interview season interviews will be held virtually to adhere to recommendations from AAIM and the AAMC secondary to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Applicants must have completed medical school within the past three years. We require three letters of recommendations with at least two from a physician practicing in the U.S. International applicants must be ECFMG certified and current. We sponsor J-1 visas only. Applicants must have some clinical experience in the U.S. within the past year. Meeting the above criteria does not guarantee that an interview will be offered; for further admission criteria and benefits, please see our information on FREIDA.

Our program is approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. We participate in applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and applicants are selected through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP).
