OBGYN Admissions

The Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Residents are selected for the postgraduate year-one level through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Applicants are required to complete an interview. All interviews will be conducted virtually in the 2020-2021 application cycle from November 20, 2020 through January 8, 2021.

Once your application is submitted through ERAS, it will be reviewed by our residency program director and associate program directors. A holistic application review process is used to identity qualified candidates.

Admissions Standards

  • To be eligible for selection, applicants must apply via Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) by November 1, 2020 and must be enrolled in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
  • Highest priority is given to graduates of LCME and AACOM-accredited medical schools.
  • While we typically require all applicants to have at least two letters of recommendation from members of the OBGYN Faculty at their medical school (including the chairperson), this requirement is waived in the 2020-2021 cycle due to COVID-19-related constraints. We will accept letters from any faculty member who has substantial knowledge of the applicant.
  • All applicants must be within three years of graduation from medical school.
  • The selection process evaluates applicants holistically, focusing on experience, attributes, and academic metrics as demonstrated in the application–personal statement, letters of recommendation, MSPE, and performance in medical school.
  • We do not have a minimum score requirement for the USMLE Step 1 or Step 2, but we favor applicants with scores of 210 or greater.
  • The Department of OBGYN does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender identity, age, national origin, disability, marital status, family/parental status, sexual orientation, or veteran status.

After your application has been carefully reviewed, you will be notified of your application status. Initial interview invitations will be sent on November 10, 2020 and November 17, 2020. You will be notified if you are on a waiting list if additional interview spots become available. Final notice of application status will be sent December 23, 2020.
