Resident Perspectives

“During my interview here, it was very evident that this program wanted to get to know what was important to me for my both my personal and professional goals. It was so refreshing to have a program that wanted to know me as an individual and not just what I had to offer as a future resident. Daily I get affirmations that those gestures were genuine efforts from both the attendings and coordinators.”

Brittany Williams, MD, PGY1

“After completing a rotation as a fourth year visiting student, I knew the Pediatric Residency Program at Greenville was the perfect fit for me. The size of the program was ideal. It was large enough for exposure to a diverse patient population with a wide range of presentations, yet small enough to form close-knit and supportive relationships with residents and attendings. My husband and I absolutely fell in love with the city of Greenville and knew it would be the perfect place to spend our next three years. Last and most importantly, it was the people I met that made my experience so special.”

Brittiany Gray, MD, PGY2

“I chose Greenville for residency because the program is small enough for everyone to know each other and be close but has all the resources of much larger programs. My favorite thing about the program is the close contact we have with all the subspecialists and our attendings. You really get the chance to build relationships and learn directly from them.”
Zach Gray, MD, PGY3

Faculty and Alumni Perspectives

“I am very thankful to have ended up in Greenville for residency and cannot imagine being as happy elsewhere as I was here. I had great mentors, teachers, teammates and co-residents who, by the end of residency and chief year, were like family. I learned so much, not only from the vast variety of patients, but also from the nurturing environment and enthusiastic support I was met with at every step along the way. My mentors helped me find my passion as a child advocate, gave me the autonomy I needed and pushed me to become the best pediatrician and person I can be. It is rare to find a program with amazing learning, teaching, love and support, and also be located in a fantastic city to explore and enjoy outside of work, but this residency program is all that, and so much more! While I am excited for what lies ahead as a hospitalist and faculty in Huntsville, AL, I will truly miss GHS and cherish the memories I have made here.”

Kym Do, MD, Class of 2017

“I am forever grateful to the Prisma Health Upstate residency program. It was truly the perfect program, and, if I could do it all over, I would choose Greenville every time. The program is small enough that I felt encouraged and supported by my co-residents as well as faculty and staff. The program is large enough with a good-sized catchment area that I was able to manage complex and interesting cases with sufficient autonomy. It is my experience in the children’s hospital that led me to work as a hospitalist and outpatient pediatrician with a focus in complex care.

Life after residency is good! I owe that to my amazing teachers and mentors.”
