Carrie Johnson, MD

Carrie grew up in a small town of Illinois and attended medical school at the University of Illinois School of Medicine where she graduated with high honors, served as the pathology teacher’s assistant, and was the recipient of the Scholarship in Pathology. She completed her Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency at University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY, where she served as Med-Peds Chief Resident her final year. During residency, she spent a month working as a Pediatric Hospitalist at Tenwek Hospital outside of Bomet, Kenya. During her time at UK, she was recognized as Outstanding Med-Peds Ambulatory Resident, Outstanding Resident in Pediatric Pulmonary, and Outstanding Resident in Newborn Nursery. She currently works full-time at Prisma Health-Boiling Springs Internal and Family Medicine clinic. Given her Med-Peds training, she was also asked during the pandemic to help fill in as hospitalist for the Home Recovery Program at Prisma Health. Special interests include newborn care, global missions, and preventative medicine. You can find her watching college basketball (Go Fighting Illini), baking, or spending time with her husband and 2 dogs.
