Dr. Ossmann serves as the Vice Chair of Emergency Medicine for Clinical Affairs and Operations. He holds appointments as an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of South Carolina, School of Medicine – Greenville. He has over 19 years leadership experience in prehospital and disaster medicine. Dr. Ossmann has been involved in emergency medical services at the local, state and national level throughout his career. His background includes all aspects of out-of-hospital care and disaster medicine with a focus on the integration of emergency medical services into a community-based health care delivery system.

Dr. Ossmann completed medical school at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, his residency at Methodist Hospital, Indiana University, Emergency Medicine Residency where he served as Chief Resident, and his fellowship in Emergency Medical Services at Carolinas Medical Center. He has held previous appointments at Emory University and Duke University. He has worked with federal agencies at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Federal Disaster Medical Assistance Teams (DMAT), and Federal Urban Search and Rescue Teams (USAR).
