Medical School

Residency Training
The Toledo Hospital and St Vincent’s Medical Center

As you may be able to tell from the gray hair, I am the most senior active member of the department.

I received my undergraduate degree from University of Michigan (Go Blue!), traveled south about an hour to Medical College of Ohio for med school and stayed in Toledo for EM residency.

Looking to never shovel snow again, we made the great decision to move to Greenville way back in 1985 to become just the 5th EM trained physician in Greenville County.

Founded Carolina Emergency Medicine, PA in 1993 and served as President for almost 20 years.

During this time I also served the following roles:

  • Chairman of the Department
  • Medical Director of Hillcrest ED
  • Greenville County EMS Control Board
  • Founded and served on the Board of the South Carolina Organ Procurement Agency
  • Founded and served on the Board of Physician Foundation Society for Greenville
  • Volunteer at Greenville Free Clinic
  • Multiple Prisma Health committee assignments

Married with 2 grown children, both CPAs, and one grandson who calls me “Tater”, unless he is mad, then calls me “Tater Tot”. A good southern name for a reformed Yankee.

Personal interests include: golf, garden and landscape design, finance and real estate, and sunsets at Lake Keowee.
