Laura Johnson, MD is a graduate of Drury University in Springfield Missouri and did her medical training at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She completed her Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency here at our program, Class of 2015. She served as president of the Prisma Health (previously Greenville Health System) Housestaff Senate and increased awareness of patient safety issues amongst all residents at GHS. After graduation, Laura worked as the director of the Prisma Health Family Medicine Teaching service from 2015-2018. She then worked in a global health program in Adis Ababa, Ethiopia. She served as Interim Vice Dean of medical affairs at the Myungsung Medical College. With support and guidance from the dean of the medical school, she created and precepted at medical student-run teaching clinic for local underserved populations integrating novel bedside outpatient teaching. She has moved back to Greenville, SC 2/2021 and we are so glad she is back! She currently works at the Heritage Internal Medicine-Pediatrics office at Simpsonville and her special interests include academic medicine, resident mentorship and global health.
