Megan Houston grew up in Columbia, SC. She received her undergraduate degree at Auburn University and cheers for the “other Tigers” any chance she gets! She earned her Masters of Education in Math & Science at College of Charleston and began her career as a middle school math teacher. She has now shifted her focus to graduate medical education (GME) and hasn’t looked back. She has been with Prisma Health-Upstate since 2010. She spent 10 years with the Bradshaw Institute for Community Child Health & Advocacy working closely with Kerry Sease, the former Prisma Health Pediatric Residency Director 2005-2016 and now Medical Director of the Bradshaw Institute. Working in the world of GME, she is able to draw from her experiences as both a teacher and a child health advocate. She served as the Prisma Health Pediatric Residency Co-coordinator prior to accepting the role of Med-Peds coordinator. She also serves as the Behavioral Pediatric Fellowship Coordinator. Along with Dr. Julie Linton and Dr. Lochrane Grant, she coordinated the galvanizing ROME Visiting Professorship 5/2021 featuring pediatrician, public health advocate and scholar, Dr. Rhea Boyd. Megan and her husband, Howie, got married in August 2020 and enjoy spending time outside with their dogs, hiking, biking or grilling any piece of meat Howie can find on their Big Green Egg.
