Why I chose Greenville:  Ever since visiting the Upstate in high school, I knew that Greenville would be a great place to live one day, but I did not think I would have the opportunity to pursue my residency there. My interview experience was an excellent one, as I immediately felt drawn to the excellent culture and people of the program. I quickly came to understand that this was an internal medicine residency program that valued the education and professional development of it’s house staff above all — this was not something I experienced at many of my interviews.  In a way the residency mirrors my opinion of the city itself by being a program that is both grounded in excellence yet still very versatile.  Finally, it was an easy sell to my wife (originally from Texas) to move down to Greenville, as she had loved the area when we were married on the Reedy River in 2015.  I am thrilled to get the chance to learn at such an innovative program, and I am excited to see what is in store for my three years in Greenville.
