Hi there, I’m Sarah and I grew up in Columbia, SC. I attended North Carolina State University for my undergraduate BS in Biomedical Engineering and minors in Tissue Engineering and Anthropology. I went on to attend the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston for medical school. I chose family medicine after realizing my love for medicine both abroad and domestically. I served populations in rural Guatemala, and recognized the potential of the physician to impact the lives of the local community on a personal level, but also on a larger scale. While in medical school, my family medicine rotation demonstrated to me the ability of personal relationship with a patient to transcend social, racial, economic and cultural boundaries to intimately treat a patient in a unique way. I am interested in using these skills acquired as a family physician to reach the underserved populations of my community, state, country and world. I chose the Prisma Health FMR family because of the passion demonstrated by each of the faculty members and their desire to ensure the needs of every patient is met. Being in the city of Greenville, only served to add value to the program. My fiancé Anna and I have our own family, Cheddar and Mac (the dogs) and Hobbes and Zoe (the cats). Outside of medicine we love to explore all things outside; hiking, biking, kayaking, building things, frisbee golf as well as painting and all the good food Greenville has to offer.
