Shannon Stark Taylor, PhD is a clinical health psychologist who serves half time as a faculty member in the Family Medicine Residency Program and half time as a Clinical Assistant Professor at USCSOMG. She teaches residents through hands-on clinical teaching, assisting with precepting, video review, research activities, and didactics. She is a native of Hickory, NC and a proud Furman University alum. She earned her M.A. in psychology from Wake Forest University and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Arizona State University. She then returned to the Carolinas to complete a predoctoral internship in Behavioral Medicine at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in Health Services Research at the Durham VAMC. Her interests include psychological interventions for physical health concerns (e.g., chronic pain, diabetes), doctor-patient communication, and health behavior change.
