I was born in beautiful southern Indiana and became a lover of the outdoors on the 80 acres of woods, farmland, orchards and creeks of my family’s farm.  I got a few degrees and doctoral level work in performance of the cello after high school (Butler and IU Bloomington).  Before studying medicine (University of Louisville), I played the cello professionally in orchestras and smaller groups including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (and many other orchestras), in Peter Gabriel’s New World Tour, in Japan as part of the Pacific Music Festival and spent over a year’s worth of summers in Aspen and Breckenridge, CO performing in festivals and enjoying the mountains.  I love Greenville because of the access to the mountains.
