Thompson Gailey Jr., MD

I graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 1969 and started with the system in a year long rotating internship before completing my residency in 1973.

I was the Ob/Gyn Residency programs first full-time faculty member. I have served the department in the following roles:

  • 1973–2007 Medical Director of Obstetrical Clinics
  • 1973–Present Attending Physician Obstetrical Clinics
  • 1989–1991 Interim Program Director
  • 1990–1991 Interim Academic Chairman
  • 1993–1996 Director of Medical Student Education
  • 1995–2007 Academic Vice Chairman
  • 2008–2012 Vice Chairman of Community Affairs

My interests include access to Ob/Gyn care for medically underserved women; philanthropy and resident education.
